To install the WordPress Plugin for CrowdHandler you can either install directly from WordPress admin or download directly from https://wordpress.org/plugins/crowdhandler-virtual-waiting-room/
Important: Our WordPress Plugin is incompatible with some Wordpress plugins and caching services. Please read the article for details, especially if the queue is not behaving as expected.
Install From WordPress Admin
The CrowdHandler plugin is available to install via the WordPress plugin directory.
Simply search for "crowdhandler" and click the install now button and activate the plugin.
Manual installation
- Download the CrowdHandler plugin as a zip file from https://wordpress.org/plugins/crowdhandler-virtual-waiting-room/
- Unzip crowdhandler-wordpress.zip
- Upload the crowdhandler-wordpress folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
- Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
Configuration
After installation, you need to configure the plugin:
Access the settings page at [yoursite.com]/wp-admin/admin.php?page=crowdhandler or use the navigation
Get your CrowdHandler API Public Key from CrowdHandler at https://admin.crowdhandler.com/account/api
Add your CrowdHandler API Public Key in the field labelled “Public Key”
Check the “Enabled” option. This will activate CrowdHandler for the site.
Now click “Save Settings” and you're all set.
Optional settings:
Override index.php: activating this option allows CrowdHandler to run the queue check for each request, offloading users before booting up WordPress. This will take significant load off your web and database servers. This option may not work if write permissions on your server are configured such that you cannot update index.php If you are able to use this option, it is recommended.
