Data Center Locations

CrowdHandler hosts its primary production environment in Amazon Web Services data centers located in Northern Virginia (US East 1). We also maintain a replica environment in Ohio (US East 2) to provide full redundancy in case of any disruptions to the primary hosting region.

Physical and Location Security#

AWS data centers have extensive physical security measures including:

• Physical access restrictions and multi-factor authentication to enter facilities
• Security personnel on-site 24 hours a day
• Video surveillance and intrusion detection monitoring the data center floor and perimeter
• Secure cage spaces and locked racks for customer equipment

AWS has achieved ISO 27001 and SOC certifications for its data center operations, showing compliance with strict security controls and guidelines.

Network Security

Amazon employs advanced network security measures including:

• DDoS mitigation techniques like custom filtering rules and rate limiting
• Redundant networking infrastructures within isolated network segments
• Secure transport of data between locations and customers using encryption
• Never transfers or stores customer data on tapes, hard drives or any other removable media

Resiliency, Fault Tolerance and High Availability#

AWS data centers are designed to anticipate and tolerate failures while continuing to operate. In addition, CrowdHandler utilizes multiple availability zones for high availability of our services. This includes:

• Identical server architecture, security groups, IAM roles and policies in both US East 1 and US East 2.
• Regular synchronization of all data and configurations from US East 1 to US East 2 using AWS native replication tools.
• Standby database instances in US East 2 replicating from US East 1 production databases with the ability to promote to primary in case of a database outage.
• Ability to cut over either via DNS changes or by updating application origin configurations to direct traffic from US East 1 to US East 2. The method used depends on the severity of any outage and our target recovery time.

Using AWS, CrowdHandler is able to leverage extremely secure and compliant data center facilities with strong defenses against environmental hazards, hardware failure, unauthorized access and network issues. Our services are architected across multiple availability zones for continuous availability even when individual components require maintenance or experience failures. AWS's security certifications and fault-tolerant data center designs, combined with our redundant infrastructure and regularly tested failover processes, provide reassurance that customer data and applications are in safe, reliable and highly available storage.
